Summary: We arrived around 10:00 p.m. and were surprised to find a soap dish in the bathroom but no hand soap. I went to the front desk and politely asked if we could please have a bar of soap. The employee told me that they “don’t give soap anymore.” When I questioned this, given that there was a soap dish in the room, her response was extremely rude, and she actually smirked while telling me that there would be no soap provided and that I could speak to the cleaning staff the next morning. I explained that we had an entire family who needed to wash up before bed and asked if she could please see if there was anything available. After several minutes of unnecessary back-and-forth, she eventually found a bar of soap in a closet behind the front desk. The room itself was tidy, but the hotel is clearly quite old and rundown. The faucets were coming away from the walls, and the carpet felt damp and dirty underfoot. The location is convenient, and the room was clean enough, but the condition of the property and, most importantly, the extremely poor customer service at the front desk made this a disappointing stay. A simple request for basic bathroom soap should never have turned into an argument with a guest.
