Summary: We stayed two nights & the location is excellent; our room was clean and well presented. Unfortunately, the mattress sagged noticeably and we both found it uncomfortable. We had seen older reviews mentioning this before booking, but were reassured by the host’s responses that the mattress had been checked. The water pressure was slow and a bath grab rail would be helpful. We also discovered a second door between our bathroom and the communal landing which we found unlocked, which concerned us from a privacy perspective. The Hotels.com presentation could be clearer. A “top-rated pool” is advertised, although there is no pool. It’s described as an “Aparthotel” and photos show a kitchen/sitting room, although the kitchen isn’t a guest facility. The attractive terrace is also used for parking, so you may be sitting alongside parked cars. There is a lot of information provided after booking, which we found overwhelming. We misunderstood that a front-door key should remain by the entrance and accidentally kept it with our room key. We left both inside at checkout and immediately apologised when the host called, but were surprised by the tone. A sign by the lockbox could help avoid this. The staircase handrail is very close to the wall, and we noticed what smelled to us like stale smoke. Overall, it’s a characterful property in a brilliant location and clearly suits many guests, but it wasn’t quite the experience we expected from the listing.
