The Carlyon Bay Hotel is nearby and has bars, restaurants and a golf course that overlooks the sea. The historic village of Charlestown with its pubs, museum, restaurants and shops is nearby and is home to traditional tall ships which are often moored at the quay. The seafaring towns of Fowey, Truro, Padstow, St Ives, Looe, Polperro, Newquay, The Eden Project, The Lost Gardens of Heligan and many National Trust houses and gardens are all within easy reach. Cycling, sailing, kayaking and horse riding are available locally. Beach ½ mile. Shop, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Summary: Very good place for a break, nicely placed in East Cornwall, close to the beach and SW coast path - great place to walk the dog (cottage is pet friendly). Well equipped and very clean. Small issue was that the instructions to get there do not work when coming from the west (as I guess most folks do) using satnav. It would be better/in addition to add approach from Cypress Lane, up the hill, under the railway bridge and 3rd driveway on the right.
